RIDING THE STORMS WITH GOD IN MY SAILS The Autobiography of Admiral Alison Madueke

13,000

Admiral Madueke’s story sets him apart as a man of destiny, who despite the vicissitudes of life and the intrigues of military politics, rose to the mountaintop of his career.

The civil war had started by the time he left Britain on 8th Dec 1967. But instead of returning to the Nigerian Navy, he made a beeline to port Harcourt to join the Biafran Navy, sustaining three battle front injuries in the creeks of the Niger Delta and the River Niger near Onitsha. Madueke returned to the Nigerian Navy on 15th January 1972, Although he suffered a loss of seniority for the period of war as other reabsorbed ex-Biafran officers, he steadily rose in rank of Rear Admiral- the first Igbo to head an arm of the Nigerian Armed forces since General Aguiyi-Ironsi. This is an epic story of a cat with nine lives.

This is one book on Nigeria that should be read by one and all
