Othello, written approximately in 1603 as originally based on an italian short story Un Capitano Maro (A Moorish Captain) by Cinthio, was published in 1565. The story of Othello revolves around four central characters. Othello a Moorish General in the Venetian army, his wife Desdemona, his Lieutenant Cassio and his trusted ensign, Lago. It is based on the theme of racism, love, jealousy and betrayal.
